Presentation Skills Workshops
Part of BEA’s curriculum includes learning how to prepare and give presentations. This part of our program using a different type of teaching method called "task-based learning." This type of learning allows students to use all of their knowledge of the English language in a variety of activities. The goal of this learning is to develop fluency and skills for working in a group. Students are required to complete four presentations (or task-based projects as we call them) during the year that correspond to the themes in our textbook.
When we have "presentation week," students have three days to prepare their poster and presentation in class. If they can’t complete the poster during class time, most students will use the library before their lesson to finish their project. Students then have to prepare a 10-minute presentation to give in class during one of the two days scheduled for presentations. Students don’t have to give their presentation in front of the entire class. Rather, they present in front of small groups of students three times. After their presentation, the audience then moves on to another group to hear another presentation. In this way, these poster presentations help students build their public speaking skills and gain confidence in a small, supportive atmosphere.

Presentation Guidelines
Before each presentation, teachers get a set of guidelines to go through with their students. The purpose of these guidelines is to help teachers set-up the project while giving students the freedom to direct the course of their project on their own. Below, you can find a sample of the guidelines for one of the many presentation workshops, and the evaluation form to give feedback on student performance.
