The Bayon English Academy (BEA) opened its doors from September 2010 to December 2015 to provide quality English language education, job hunting skills, and teacher training programs to disadvantaged youth in Siem Reap, Cambodia. BEA provided students with all their learning materials in a clean, safe environment for studying. Teachers also received training in the most recent language teaching methods and practices from overseas experts. All of this was provided for free. Our mission was to empower our students through education so that they would have the confidence to follow their dreams. An opportunity they did not have without BEA.
BEA was recognized as an official non-government organization (NGO) in January 2010 by the Cambodian Ministry of the Interior (registration number: 007-808-887). BEA also received accreditation in August 2011 by the Cambodian Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) as an educational institution equivalent in status to a secondary school. This meant that BEA was able to issue its own government-recognized certificates for its English language and teacher-training programs.
